Eastwood's Recycling Programs

Eastwood Joins Colgate's Recycling Program
Pic: Pictures of acceptable items from Colgate's Recycling ProgramEastwood Elementary is participating in the TerraCycle/Colgate recycling program. Colgate has partnered with TerraCycle to turn recycled toothbrushes and oral care packaging into school supplies for the Kids in Need Foundation. Colgate will donate upcycled backpacks, pens, and notebooks to schools most in need.

Program accepted waste include: Toothpaste tubes and caps, toothbrushes, toothpaste cartons, toothbrush outer packaging, and floss containers.
Please note: Electric toothbrushes, battery toothbrushes, and/or their parts are not recyclable through the program.

We are collecting the items at Eastwood. Families are invited to participate, as well, by sending the acceptable items to school with their children.
In order to recycle this waste stream properly, please make sure all excess product has been removed (i.e. leftover toothpaste or floss). Additionally, if you choose to rinse your product, please note that it must be completely dry before sending it to school.

Our school will take care of it from there and send the items on to TerraCycle.
Once TerraCycle receives them, the tubes and brushes are separated by composition, shredded and melted into hard plastic that can be remolded to make new recycled products.
