pic:  calendar clip artMonongalia County Schools Summer Snowflakes offers summertime learning opportunities to MCS students from pre-K to seniors at nearly every school in the county.  Taught by certified teachers, every course gives kids a chance to experience - and experiment in - subject areas that pique their interests, keep them academically engaged and help prepare them for the upcoming school year.  

Dates -  programs run  Monday - Thursday between July 9 - 26, see program for specific dates.

Course cost- Free.  Thank you Mon County voters for passing the Monongalia County Schools 2017 - 2022 Excess Levy!


The course brochure will go home this week.  Once you find a great course, sign up as soon as possible as spots fill up fast.
Registration opens May 3 - 18th.  You may register at http:boe.mono.k12.wv.us. 

Eastwood will be hosting the following programs:

Ready Freddy -  School readiness program prepares incoming kindergarten students for their first early childhood experience.  Activities will boost children's social-emotional development and increase their awareness of classroom routines.   This is available at all elementary sites, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm July 9 - 19. 


Library Time- Spend some time at your elementary school library this summer catching up on your favorite reads.  Hands-on activities and pop=up appearances by local celebs.  June 9 - 19, Monday - Thursday from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm.

Hola, Amigos! - Get a fun feel for Spanish culture by engaging in activities to strengthen your knowledge and challenge your creativity!  Open for grades 3-5 9 am - 12 pm July 9 - 19. (Transportation available to students within Eastwood attendance area.)

EnviroBotics - Partner with NASA's IV&V Teams to create and build WeDo 2.0 robots and EV3 LEGO MindStorm robots for missions in the Green City.   Open to grades 3-5, 12:30 - 3 pm, July 9 - 19.   (No transportation available)

No Child Left Inside - Get ready for some fun in the sun during this two-week program focused on healthy outdoor recreation and exploration!  Open to grades 1- 5, 9:00 am - 12 pm, July 9 - 19.  (Transportation available to those in the Eastwood attendance area.)
