It's that time of year again where wintery weather is around the corner. Here's what you need to know, where you can find information, and what an Arctic Academy Day will look like for students.

When school is called off for weather, parents will be notified through our school call out system. If you do not receive these calls, please check the local news & radio, and our school Facebook page @EastwoodBlackBears. Closures and delays can also be found on WVDE School Closure page.

If a 2 hour delay is called school drop off begins at 10:00 - 10:15.

An Arctic Academy Day may be announced. These are designed for students to continue learning at home with lessons designed by their teachers. Students can connect with their teacher using their Chromebook. Prek received paper packets. Eastwood teachers will be live and available from 10:00 - 12:00 to guide students through the day's work and answer questions. Students are not required to get online during this time; however, attendance will be taken based on work completed for the day. Families can still contact their teacher outside of this time, but you might get a delayed response. For more information about Artic Academy, please visit our District Page: Monongalia County Arctic Academy

If you have technology trouble, you may reach out to your teacher via Remind or call the school at 304-284-8226.

If your student doesn't have their computer or you're having trouble accessing what you need, have no fear, we have a plan for you. Students can read for 20 minutes, play a math game or practice math facts, and they can practice writing. Writing practice might include spelling words, writing a letter about your day, describe the weather and predict what might happen tomorrow, etc.
