💘What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than by learning about the makeup of candy? 🍬
Mrs. Wiles, Mrs. Cummings and Ms. Natale’s classes hosted Candy Explorations in Matter. Students visited different stations learning about the states of matter with various Candy. They also learned about how properties of matter can change an object’s state or appearance based on different phase changes. Students explored density, buoyancy, seeing water change into a gas, ways to see a gas (or air!) in blowing a bubble, dissolving, sinking or floating, melting and cooling, and using their five senses. Kiddos had a SWEET time in culmination of their learning. 🍫

Ms. Lea’s second grade class kicked off a project based creative writing project by touring WVU’s Puppetry Department where graduate students gave them a behind the scenes tour of how to plan and develop a puppetry performance from start to finish. Students learned about storyboards, the history of puppetry and the different types of puppets. Students visited the design studios, asked questions about stage design and lighting, and had hands on experience with materials use throughout the production process! Thank you WVU Puppetry department!!!
